I teach a class on the prophets and one of my favorite stories is about King David. This painting depicts the time in his life when he was being chased by King Saul. King Saul entered the cave in which David was hiding. David was so close to King Saul that he could have harmed him, but he only reached out and tore Saul?s cloak? Later David is recognized as the king of Israel.? Moshiach (the Messiah) is destined to come from the Davidic dynasty.
