I painted this at a time in my life that was a bit frenetic. In the midst of chaos, all I really wanted was some peace and quiet. “Serenity” is just that – still waters, mountains, and trees. Only God can create such natural beauty! Everything really is a part of God. Nothing exists without his will.
The biblical verse is: אין עוד מלבדו – “There is none besides Him” The full verse is said on Simchat Torah. “אתה הראת לדעת כי ה׳ הוא האלוקים אין עוד מלבדו” “You have been shown to know, that Hashem, He is the God, there is none beside Him.” (Deuteronomy 4:35)
