Painted especially for Messengers Gallery, Peonies Smile is part of a series of large floral works. I was drawn to the joyful presence of these peonies—their lush beauty and the spontaneous smiles they evoke. The painting is accompanied by a verse from Shir HaShirim (2:12):
“הנּצָנים נִראו בארץ, עת הזמיר הגיע, וקול התור נשמע בארצנו.”
“The blossoms have appeared in the land; the time of your song has come, and the voice of your guide is heard in our land.”
