Shabbos, Shabbat, Sabbath, Day of rest, call it what you want. Either way, it’s a day I can’t live without. It revives me and restores my soul. Definitely my favorite day of the week!
After creating the world God stopped and rested. This novel idea of resting, stopping what we are doing seemed so foreign to many. And now people are waking up and realizing unplugging for a day is a good thing.
The pasuk in this painting is:
ויכלו השמים והארץ בכל צבאם ויכל אלקים ביום השביעי מכל מלאכתו אשר עשה וישבת ויום השביעי מכל מלאכתו אשר עשה ויברך אלקים את יום השביעי ויקדש אותו כי בו שבת מכל מלאכתו אשר ברא אלקים לעשות
Now the heavens and earth were finished, and all their array. By the seventh day, God completed all his work which he had done. He abstained on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.
