Dreidel Fun is a joyful celebration of innocence and tradition. Inspired by the delighted laughter of a one-year-old, who squealed and reached out for the spinning dreidel with endless wonder, I set out to capture that pure, unfiltered joy.
Woven into the painting is a verse from Al HaNisim, the special Chanukkah prayer added to the Amidah:
“מסרת גיבורים ביד חלשים, ורבים ביד מעטים, וטמאים ביד טהורים, ורשעים ביד צדיקים, וזדים ביד עוסקי תורתך.”
“You delivered the mighty into the hands of the weak, the many into the hands of the few, the impure into the hands of the pure, the wicked into the hands of the righteous, and the arrogant into the hands of those who study Your Torah.”
This young child’s delight becomes a symbol of resilience and hope—a reminder of the Maccabees’ courage and the enduring spirit of Torah passed down through generations.
