First Catch!

Oil on canvas (original dimensions: 72”x36”)

As Summer break comes to an end, I reflect on long sunny days and new experiences. Here wearing waders, standing in the river, these brothers discover the excitement of catching a fish for the first time.

The pasuk in this painting is:

“המלאך הגואל אתי מכל רע יברך את הנערים, ויקרא בהם שמי, ושם אבתי אברהם ויצחק וידגו לרב בקרב הארץ”

“May the angel who redeems me from all evil bless lads, and may my name be declared upon them – and the names of my forefathers Abraham and Isaac – and May they proliferate abundantly like fish within the land.” (Genesis 48:16)
